Complete in five volumes.In the original French.'Le Juif Errant' was a serially published novel, attaining great popularity in Paris and across the globe.This novel is considered to have influenced legislation on the Jesuits, and caused a general "jesuitophobie"Eugene Sue was strongly affected by the Socialist ideas of the day, and these prompted his most famous works, the "anti-Catholic" novels.Ink inscription to the verso of each front blank, and to the title page of Volume I. In a half diced calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, sound. Rubbing to the boards and spines. Backstrips of Volumes I and V are lifting, heavier to Volume I. Joints are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. The occasional light pencil annotation. Good Only
