London: Macmillan and Co., 1924. First Edition . Quarter Cloth. G to Vg. Bound in quarter canvas-style, oatmeal coloured cloth, boards covered in grey paper, printed paper label, b/w frontis, " William Morris " at his desk, 16 b/w plates, 177pp. The author was a close colleague of Morris working with him as co-editor of the " Commonweal " and aiding his with his work on ancient manuscripts. " Nearly every Kelmscott Press book was either a work by Morris or one of his old farourites, long valued, whose production in decent-seeming form was an act of love ". An appendix to this book by Sydney C Cockerell provides the reader with, " an annotated list of the books printed at the Press ". Condition of the text is vg.

REBOUND, closely matching the original BUT: title stamped in gilt directly on spine, rather than on a paper label. . 9"x6", ix,177,2pp. A fine rebind but no binder's ticket. Two types of very minor flaws. (1) the first & last 2 original leaves are faintly aged, (2) the fore & bottom margins of the last 3 original leaves faintly damp stained. (3) Ink of laid in inked note has transferred to p 32. Note bo longer there. (4) Few foxed spots on scatttered leaves. FLAWLESS BOOK otherwise. It stays closed when stood on its spine. All three deckle edges white as new. COMES WITH a 68p exhibition catalog "William Morris and the Kelmscott Press". A 1994 U of Scranton exhibit of 122 items of the Walsdorf Morris collection. The photo of this catalog is taken against the backdrop of the tipped in, extra, title paper label. .
