Moderate wear and rubbing to the fragile spine, with one small hole in the paper, several small scapes and abrasions to the fore-edge of the front cover, small paper label with MS. number on spine, another small label with a (different) number on the front paste down endpaper, and a small purple ink circular library stamp (Eastern European) on the title page, two pencil numbers on the front free endpaper -- no other marks. OCLC Number: 247509150 cites two copies [ Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen; and Thüringer Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek in Jena]. Other library catalogues show two additional locations -- at the Bayerishe Staatsbibliothek and also at the Austrian National Library. German text; Fraktur type. Collation: A - H8 I2. The text is devoted to a month-by-month list of tasks and expectations which the practical gardener (in the widest sense) or farmer might encounter. Attention is paid to matters of the fields, kitchen gardens, hop gardens, orchards, vineyards -- as well as significant information for those who cultivate bees and fish. The final topic for each month is "Witterung" -- an account of the typical weather which readers might expect for any time of year. Practical books like this, small enough to fit in the pocket and be carried along when working outdoors, have difficult lives. It is not a surprize that this is now a rare book. .

At The Antiquarian Book Shop, located in Georgetown - an historic neighborhood of Washington, D.C. we have been buying, selling & appraising rare, interesting and scholarly books in Georgetown for more than 30 years.
