Accompanying the message of the president of the United States, received of the 22d of March, 1808. March 23, 1808. Printed by order of the house of representatives." Early American Imprints, Second series "Shaw & Shoemaker," 16453. President Thomas Jefferson rejected the treaty because of its failure to stop England from impressing Americans onto their ships during the Napoleonic Wars. This was one of the issues leading to the War of 1812. In Good Condition: disbound; first leaf detached, 2nd and 3rd partially detach, all are present; occasional foxing; pages are browning but clean and tight.
