About This Item

Not ex-library, no markings of any kind, completely clean.

Marchese Roberto Ridolfi (1899-1991) from an ancient and prominent Florentine family, was a brilliant self-taught biographer and writer (the "…one great Italian analytical bibliographer of the 20th century" according to Prof. Conor Fahy of Birkbeck College). He wrote highly esteemed biographies of, among others, Savonarola and Guicciardini and avoids abstract philosophizing and concentrates on biography, the life of the real person in his real environment, and the interplay between his private and public life.

This is the Marchese's last revision of the English edition, where he updated some errors iincluded in the original Italian edition.
