When I first started writing about old homes in Southwest Louisiana I found how eager residents were to learn more about them. After Volume 1 of Louisiana Homes was published, interest intensified with questions about owners and builders. So in this volume I've included brief biographies of builders and significant people who owned these homes - governors, artists, philanthropists and two Pulitzer Prize winners. It is hard to pinpoint the exact architectural styles because the diverse culture of this area reflects the influence of the Acadians, Michigan Lumber Barons, Midwesterners and Viking Sea Captains in their house designs.
