About This Item

New York: Modern Library, 1939. 1939 Printing. Hardcover. Good. Duodecimo. 4.5 x 6.75 in. ix, 296 pp. Good in original navy cloth, with a loose front hinge, minor rubbing on the bottom edges, and previous owners' notations on the front free end paper, and a poor dust jacket that has heavy chipping on the corners and spine. The interior jacket advertises "265" titles available from the Modern Library. A previous owner has tried to reinforce the top and bottom of the jacket's spine by applying scotch tape. This book also features a single stamp on the back end paper indicating it was "Withdrawn J.P. Library." However, no other library markings are present.

Synopsis

Mrs Dalloway is a novel by Virginia Woolf that details a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway in post-World War I England. Mrs Dalloway continues to be one of Woolf's best-known novels. Created from two short stories, "Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street" and the unfinished "The Prime Minister", the novel's story is of Clarissa's preparations for a party of which she is to be hostess.
