About This Item

London: Heinemann, 1965. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. An interesting first edition work by Alison Lurie, described as a 'modern domestic comedy', presented in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Scarce, First UK Edition which precedes the US Edition. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. This is the second novel by Alison Lurie, which is described as both a 'modern domestic comedy' and a 'study of the interaction of two dissimilar marriages'. This work follows a young historian who has recently married an upper-class girl from New England and moved the both of them to Los Angeles. They both strike up relationships with different people, one a girl named Ceci who embodies the uninhibited nature of Los Angeles, and the other a psychiatrist whose wife is a famous film starlet. Alison Lurie (1926-2020) was an American novelist and academic. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her 1984 novel, titled 'Foreign Affairs'. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with minimal edge wear and light spotting to text block. Dust wrapper is very smart with edge wear particularly to the top edge of wraps and a few small closed tears. Ink inscription to rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Very Good Indeed
