The first edition of this work of modern fiction by British author Evelyn Anthony, with an inscription from the author to the title page and presented in the original unclipped dustwrapper. The first edition of the work. Signed by the author to the title page, reading: "To Mrs Hay, My thanks and best wishes Evelyn Anthony" Evelyn Anthony was the pen name of British writer Evelyn Ward-Thomas. Anthony was a renowned author of historical novels, writing across a variety of historical period including the Napoleonic War, the Victorian era and the life of Catherine the Great. This particular work is set in 1944 and deals with the aftermath of the D-Day Landings, and the emotional toll of those involved. In the original black cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in lovely condition. Minor offsetting to endpapers. Dustwrapper is in lovely condition with minor shelf wear only and marginal age toning to the reverse of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Inscribed by the author to the title page. Slight uneven cut to top of fore edge, caused by printing error. Fine

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
