McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1959. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 143 pages, with biographical chronology, index of names, notes on the pictures. Black and white photos and facsimiles (mss., newspaper headlines), both full-page and cuts, throughout. Translated from German; the author was Moscow correspondent of West German Radio and Television. The turmoil around the publication of Dr. Zhivago and the award of the Nobel Prize in Literature to Pasternak is featured. 7-1/2" x 9-1/2", olive cloth with gilt lettering on spine, scant shelf wear (corners sharp), dust soil to top edge, touches of faint foxing to end papers, in unclipped DJ with wear to edges, foxing and soil. From the library of Prof. Warner Berthoff, his underscoring and/or marginalia observed on seven pages. Two newspaper clippings are laid in: a photo of Pasternak, and a review by Marc Slonim from the NYT Book Review (1959) of two books of translations of P's poems.
