1676 Boethius Consolation of Philosophy Medieval Free Will French Regnier"Nothing is miserable unless you think it so; and on the other hand, nothing brings happiness unless you are content with it."
― Boethius, The Consolation of Philosophy
A rare edition of "The Consolation of Philosophy" by Boethius, a work that has been described as "the single most important and influential work on Medieval and early Renaissance Christianity and is the last great Western work of the Classical Period." ('Consolation of Philosophy', Oxford 2000, introduction). This work in an imaginary dialogue between Boethius and the personification of philosophy, arguing that there is a higher power. Boethius engages questions such as the nature of predestination and free will, why evil men often prosper, and good men fall into ruin, human nature, virtue, and justice.
This 1676 French edition was collected and edited by Nicolas Regnier.

1880 Spiritualism 1ed Immortality OCCULT Ghosts Evil Spirits Medium Heaven Hell"Immortality, and Our Employments Hereafter," by James Martin Peebles offers an interesting, 19th-century exploration into the mysteries of the afterlife. Drawing from his backgrounds as a physician and an active member of Psychic/Spiritualist communities, Peebles addresses pressing questions that have long occupied the human mind: What awaits us after death? The book claims to grant a platform for various spirits to share their accounts and experiences from different realms. It delves into the nature of life, death, and the eternal soul, examining the intricacies of existence both on Earth and in the spiritual world. Peebles presents these narratives, not just as testimonies, but also as a way to provide clarity and hope for readers yearning for insights about the great beyond. Amidst the accounts, Peebles also touches upon the eternal… Read More
