Boston & New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, (1898). "Cambridge Edition." Octavo (8.5" x 5.75"), xvii & 887 pages, with frontis portrait & illustrated title page. Publisher's reddish-brown full crushed morocco, the spine in six compartments separated by raised bands, lettered or decorated in gilt in all compartments, the covers ruled in gilt. Marbled endpapers, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt, text mostly in two columns.
Joints rubbed, front joint cracked & board beginning to detach, brief wear at spine extremities, previous owner's name at second blank page, otherwise Good & still quite attractive.
"Lord Tennyson, as is well known, subjected his poems to frequent revision, and the editor has therefore, in addition to giving the authoritative text with scrupulous care, collated the volumes of 1830 and 1833, the edition of 1842, and all others to which he had access, and has recorded in his notes all the various readings of any importance or interest which he has detected.
