About This Item
London: Bell and Daldy, 1870. Leather. Very Good. 6.5" by 4". None. A collection of poetry by Scottish poet William Falconer. With a biographical introduction. Falconer's ability to describe storm-tossed vessels in his poem The Shipwreck came from his experience as a sailor. He was one of the three survivors of a ship voyaging from Alexandria to Venice. He was given the patronage of the Duke of York and became a purser of warships. In a full calf binding. Externally, sound with slight rubbing. Internally, generally firmly bound but strained in places. Binder's stamp to verso of front endpaper indicates J.B Hawes of Cambridge binding. Ink inscription to verso of front endpaper. The odd spot to pages. Very Good
