About This Item

The Viking Press, 1964. Soft cover. Good. 854 pages. Sixteenth reprint of edition first published 1951. Translated and edited, with an introduction and notes, by Samuel Putnam. From the cover: "including both parts [of Don Quixote], substantially complete, with all omitted passages covered by editorial summaries, plus two "Exemplary Novels", complete, and Cervantes' Farewell to Life. Has 34-page intro and Suggested Readings in English. Mass-market paperback in beat-up wraps (soil, rubbed-away patches, spine age-darkened, front cover reanchored with tape, creasing), names of former owners written on ffep and back cover, old price in pencil on ffep. Underscoring appears to be confined to the introduction and the short Editor's Note, with main text pages unmarked. Printed on the typical high-quality stock for this series, the pages appear free of age-toning. "Good" condition is a compromise between the fair exterior and very good text.
