Horatio Walpole, also known as Horace Walpole, was an English art historian, man of letters, antiquarian and politician. He is famous for his great Gothic novel The Castle of Otranto and for his letters, which are considered of great social, literary and political importance. His letters in particular are a valuable historical resource and span over 60 years of his life. Rebacked in a morocco binding with original calf boards preserved. Externally, slightly rubbed with wear to extremities. HInges reinforced. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright with scattered spotting throughout. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
