About This Item
This is the stated second printing of The Purple Decades, a Reader, by the American author and journalist Tom Wolfe (1930-2018). It is a collection of 21 essays selected by Wolfe; they are from the '60s and '70s and are accompanied by his own black-and-white illustrations. Included are his famous profiles of Baby Jane Holzer and racecar driver Junior Johnson, his essays on radical chic, the right stuff, art-think, the Me Decade, and the Vietnam War.
The book was published in 1982. The first printing was hard cover. The second, also dated 1982, was the 6" x 9" soft cover, which is what this copy is.
396 pages--see Contents photo.
This book has not been read. The outside edges of the paper have discoloring in spots, the spine is a little discolored (the book is white), and the spine has a tiny nick at the edge.
Other than that, it's pristine.
