First Illustrated Edition. 8vo; 131pp + followed by a listing of other Steinbeck works; green stamped border on tan linen, front cover has color illustrated pony onlay; color illustrated endpapers of running horses; color illustrated title page; verso title page states "This edition is produced in full compliance with all War Production Board Conservation orders."; color illustrations; tan paper slipcase with color illustrated title onlay; fine in very good plus slipcase. All four of the Steinbeck stories about the boy, Jody Tiflin, and his life on his California ranch in chapters 1-4. Two film versions were produced, one in 1949 and a made for television movie in 1973.

Synopsis

"The Red Pony" is an episodic novella written by American writer John Steinbeck in 1933. The first three chapters were published in magazines from 1933–1936, and the full book was published in 1937 by Viking Penguin. The stories in the book are tales of a boy named Jody Tiflin. The book has four different stories about Jody and his life on his father's California ranch.
