About This Item

London & New York: John C. Nimmo, 1900. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 9" by 6". Joseph Grego. A lovely two volume collection of the reminiscences of this Welsh Grenadier Guards officer and writer. Rees Howell Gronow (1794-1865) was a military man before commencing an unsuccessful parliamentary career. He wrote four works of reminiscences, this being the first; it is an entertaining work and details society in London and Paris in his time. Gronow was extremely popular and immaculately dressed, and early in life completed in many duels. With a frontispiece portrait of the subject and thirty-two illustrations by Joseph Grego. Collated, complete. With a gild emblem to the front cover of each volume. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, minor bumping to the extremities. Internally firmly bound, pages bright and clean bar the occasional spot. Very Good Indeed
