Philadelphia, PA: McCarty & Davis, 1825. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1825 publication which appears to have been rebound with cloth in the late 19th to early 20th century. Exterior shows soiling and spotting and leather labels on spine are fragile, brittle and cracked with the upper label completely missing. Internal binding is mostly good and text pages are tight though there is a thin crack at the front board and rear board is starting. Paper is darkened and toned due to age and foxing/spotting is present throughout. Front pastedown contains the law publisher business label of Geo. T. Bisel Company along with the stamped name of the Pennsylvania attorney who likely had the book rebound. Note: this is the original publication from the 1800s and not a modern reprint. This is volume 9 only as each volume was published independent of each other and over a range of multiple years.

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.
We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.
Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.

- A book in which the pages have been bound into a covering replacing the original covering issued by the publisher.
- Cracked
- In reference to a hinge or a book's binding, means that the glue which holds the opposing leaves has allowed them to separate,...

- Reprint
- Any printing of a book which follows the original edition. By definition, a reprint is not a first edition.
