London: Printed for R. Juigne. Fair with no dust jacket. 1818. Hardcover. Condition is fair only. Binding poor. Cloth boards heavily rubbed and stained. Hinges broken. Some chips to letterpress on some plates. One plate detached from the stub (Number XV, England), this plate also with some chips and tears to the letterpress. One plate with very heavy foxing (Number XXIX, Germany). Map of Americas is very good with light uniform foxing, but with upper border to the letterpress cropped. Double page world map with creasing. ; "Second Edition" stated on title page. [2 (recto: Title, verso: blank)], (1)-2 (Introduction), [2 (recto: Subscribers, verso: blank)] + 39 double page plates, all with contemporary hand-colouring. 18 of the plates have maps. 5 of these have 2 maps, 1 on each page. 1 is a double page world map. The Introduction only calls for 38 plates. The 38 numbered plates called for are present, but in addition there is a second map of Europe which precedes the "Geographical Map of Europe, No. X". The additional map of Europe has more up-to-date information than Map X. It is titled: "A Geographical and Historical Map of Europe - Exhibiting the New Divisions of the Kingdoms & States agreeably to the late Congress of Vienna - by J. Wauthier. Published as the Act directs by R. JUIGNE for the second edition of Juigne's Historical Atlas. Davies Sculpt. Compton Str. Brunsk. Sqr." Early cloth boards. Page dimensions: 482 x 348mm.
