A very scarce, first edition copy of Lady Emilia Dilke's anthology of strange and weird tales, 'The Shrine of Death'. A scarce first trade edition of this work, in the publisher's original cloth.In the same year, a limited edition of 150 copies were issued in large paper. Prior owner's inscription to the front pastedown. Comprising nine tales total, 'The Shrine of Death', 'The Silver Cage', 'The PHysician's Wife', 'A Vision of Learning', 'The Black Veil', 'The Crimson Scarf', 'The Secret', 'The Serpent's Head' and 'The Voyage'. A wonderful compilation of 'Weird Tales' by this noted author, art historian, feminist and trad unionist. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Light rubbing to the joints and extremities. A few light marks to boards. Prior owner's inscription to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Just the occasional spots to pages. Very Good Indeed
