Paris: Auguste Durand, Libraire, 1864. First Edition First Printing . Leather Bound. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo. xxiii, 502 pages. Hardcover bound in quarter brown morocco and brown and yellow speckled paper-covered boards. Five raised bands and six compartments on the spine adorned with gilt designs. Light to moderate rubbing and wear to the binding. The leather on the spine has some scuffs. A sound copy with secure hinges. Marbled endpapers and the front flyleaf has a mid-20th century owner's bookplate. Interior toned. Contains a frontis portrait. Text is in French. Guy Joseph Bonnet (1773-1843) was a Haitian historian and General of the Army of the Republic of Haiti. he was one of the signers of the Haitian Act of Independence (1804) when Haiti overthrew French rule. No auction records found. Scarce. We've been unable to find any other copy listed online, and the last copy seen in published auctions records is from 1901.
