New York: Harper & Bros, 1835. Anglo-Irish writer Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849) was quite advanced in her views and was quite popular. This is a Very Good Plus copy of Volumes One and Two of "Harper's Stereotype Edition," bound together. Harpers advertised this series as "Eighteen Volumes Bound in Nine." Volume One (218 pages) contains "Castle Rackrent," "An Essay on Irish Bulls," "An Essay on the Noble Science of Self-Justification," and "Moral Tales." Volume Two (216 pages) has "Forester," "The Prussian Vase," and "The Good Aunt." Serving as the frontis is the Title Page from the 10-volume edition of 1832. Calf leather over paper boards (exposed by some fray at the corners; the spine is ruled and lettered in gilt. The text is very clean and bright, with no trace of foxing, easy to read. Contemporary signature on the second free endpaper and a small bookplate label on the front paste-down. Really a lovely little volume. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Thus. Full-Leather. Very Good Plus/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
