London: Hurst and Blackett, Publishers, 1870. First Edition First Printing . Leather Bound. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 12mos. 326; 310 pages, indexed. Hardcovers bound in 3/4 red calf with raised bands and red marbled paper-covered board. All edges marbled. Raised bands on the spines, which have red and green leather labels. Elaborate gilt rules and tooling on the spines. The bindings show light to moderate rubbing and wear. A sound set, although there is a slight crack in the gutter between pages 62 and 63. Each volume has a tipped-in photo as a frontis. Text is a little toned and has some occasional pencil markings in the margins. An attractive set.
