Blue dust jacket with colour photo of St. Peter's. DJ has minor shelf wear, bit of rubbing at top of spine. Book itself is clean and unmarked. Two pages with down turned corner. Last two pages of the index have a slight publisher's flaw at top corner, paper not cut correctly and the slight bit of excess is crumpled. Nice copy. Considers the urban development of Rome in the mid-seventeenth century as conceived and guided by Alexander VII. Includes the Quirinal, Piazza del Popolo, Pizza S. Marco, the Corso and the Vatican. Habel suggests that Alexander VII masterminded a new conceptualization of the city, grunded in the architecture of the late antique Roman Asia. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 424 pages .
