Paris: Bibliotheque Charpentier, 1926. Limited edition of 650 copies, this being number 463 and one of the copies printed on papier de Hollande. Hardback. 217pp. Contemporary leather over marbled paper covered boards. Gilt to spine and top edge gilt. Marbled end papers. Original covers bound-in. Leading edges untrimmed and quite a number of the pages are unopened. Black & white frontispiece drawn by Charles Doudelet. Maeterlinck's celebrated analysis of totalitarian systems compared to the life of an ant colony. Text in French. Book in good condition. Some rubbing to boards and spine, which has a little wear at the extremities and hinge. Some spotting throughout.
