London: Constable and Company, 1966. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5.5". Not Stated. A first edition copy of Leslie Thomas's best known comic novel, in the original dust wrapper. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. The debut novel of the Welsh author Leslie Thomas (1931-2014), a comic work inspired by his own experiences of National Service in the British Army. It was adapted into a film in 1969, directed by John Dexter, with a screenplay by the British screenwriter John Hopkins. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is slightly sunned with a little chipping to the head of the spine and head of the folds of the flaps; otherwise it is very smart. Fine
