First edition. Based on the life of Prussian explorer and naturalist Ludwig Leichhardt who disappeared while on an expedition into the Australian outback. Written by Patrick White, a British-born Australian writer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 1973 - the only Australian to have been awarded the prize. He was also the inaugural recipient of the Miles Franklin Award. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers. Near Fine
Synopsis
PATRICK WHITE (1912-1990), an Australian novelist and playwright, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1973. His novel The Vivisector was shortlisted for the Lost Man Booker Prize in 2010.
