Oyster Bay (New York): Feral Books, 2001   ¶ ONLY EDITION of a charming anthology gathered together as a medium for "The remarkable collage images of John Digby[, which] are rich in associations that demonstrate man's ancient links with the sea. Using archival and library sources, he has found and utilized colorful antique illustrations from nineteenth century and earlier publications that show humans of diverse cultures in their many ocean-going pursuits. As a basis, he uses outlines of fish that contain within them and sprouting from them miniature ships, sloops, smaller craft, and shipwrecks." (Dudley, page [278].) The text consists of 101 poems and prose extracts arrayed in seventeen "keepsakes" or fascicles (parts) each illustrated by two or more "collages" or vignettes by Digby, together with three additional fascicles, viz: [18] Water voyages: A note on the keepsakes [by] Joan Digby, [19] The maritime collages of John Digby [by] William Dudley, and [20] Index. The Rimbaud fascicle is no. 17, "Improvisations on Arthur Rimbaud's Drunken boat" by John Digby (1995, 2002), with six illustrations or vignettes.
