A first edition copy of this fascinating collection of historical studies by the English historian Martin Andrew Sharp Hume. Collated, complete with five illustrated portrait plates. Featuring an author's advertisement to the recto of the half title page. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt embellishment to the front board spine. Externally, slightly cocked. Slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine, resulting in small closed tears to head of spine. Slight offsetting to front and rear free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to edges but very bright and clean throughout. The odd handling mark to the occasional page. s Very Good Indeed
