Bates, enriched with illustrations by John Ward. A charming short story collection by English author H. E. Bates, first edition published two years after the author's death in a limitation of three hundred and fifty copies on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of Michael Joseph Limited. These stories contain much familiar characters and scenarios, as well as uncharacteristic portrayals of urban hooligans. The text is accompanied with some charming illustrations by John Ward. Complete with its unclipped, clear dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only.
