This collection of verses by a well-known children's poet Vadim Levin (born 1933) was illustrated by an artist Ivan Bruni (1920-1995), the son of famous avant-garde painter and graphic artist Lev Bruni. His mother was the daughter of Konstantin Balmont, the symbolist poet and one of the major figures of the Silver Age of Russian Poetry.
Ivan Bruni studied at the Art Academy of Latvia and the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow under Vladimir Favorsky. In 1959-1962 he was the main artist in Detskiy mir publishing house.

The book is from the children's collection of Inna Shmeleva (1929-2020), an artist, who studied under Ely Bielutin, the founder of The New Reality artistic academy. In 1962 Shmeleva participated in the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Union of Artist at the Central Exhibition Hall (Manège) which was severely criticized by Nikita Khrushchev. This event marked the end of the period called as the Khrushchev Thaw.
