Severe cracking to hinges causing boards to be loose. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Medium crushing to spine ends with splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed. Mottling overall.

Oliver Goldsmith was an Irish novelist, playwright and poet, best known for his novel 'The Vicar of Wakefield'. This copy is undated, dated using Copac. Collated complete with six engravings on steel, including an engraved title page and five engraved plates. With a red border to extremities of each page. With a 'Life of Oliver Goldsmith' to the front of the text. In a full crushed morocco binding, with elaborate blind and gilt-stamped designs to boards.
