Five raised bands to spine and gold decoration within the compartments and around the edges of the covers. Marbled endpapers and marbling to textblock edges. Condition: Good, with light shelfwear to covers and rubbing to edges of spine. Rear cover has a faint waterstain, not affecting book in any way. Binding sound, text clean. School prize label (Amersham Grammar School) fixed to front pastedown. Previous owners name on half-title. 248pp. Eight b/w plates including frontispiece portrait of General Gordon. .

Prize label on front paste down is dated 1909.Decorative dark blue cloth boards with stamped and coloured design to front board and spine. Boards are rubbed and bumped.Text is fairly tight and has some tanning around the edges.

Part of the backstrip has come away and is preserved within. Internally, firmly bound, bright and very clean throughout. Ink inscription dated 1905 to verso of front free-endpaper. Overall: GOOD ONLY with a near fine interior. Good Only
