The detailed history of this unit concentrating mainly on its activity following landing in France after D Day 1944. Very good in original black cloth with red border and gilt title to top board. Red border rubbed away in parts and fore-edge of rear board marked (see photos). Illustrated with pencil drawings and maps. Minor marginal creases to base of 2 leaves. Previous owner's name to front pastedown.

This is a full set of the journal published during the First World War and contains photographs, drawings and cartoons. Uncommon, with 2 copies, only, cited by COPAC but excluding the other set held by the Imperial War Museum whose set matches this volume. Very good condition, quarter bound in maroon cloth. Original covers not bound in but, bound into this volume is a programme for the First Smoking Concert to be given by the R.N.A.A.C. Association. Also included are a number of loose inserts including: the programme for the R.N.A.A.C. Springe Germany: 601 Regiment Royal Artillery, 1945. Soft cover. Good/No Jacket. Booklet - over 8" tall. The title of this booklet say it all, really. It is a collection of poems and articles written to entertain troops of the British Liberation Army stationed in Germany at the end of the second world war and extracted from the daily news sheet of the 601st Regiment Royal Artillery. Generally in good condition in printed wraps. Minor soiling, in places and with two "stab" holes in the hinge area. Many mentions of "The White Rose". Previous owner's name on top wrap "1496215 Sgt. K(?)ish, R.M. Nov. 1945 B.A.O.R.". Uncommon and not found in COPAC.

This is a complete run of the eight issues of this inimitable magazine supplement humorously illustrating life in the trenches for "Old Bill" during the first world war. Very good condition but wrappers not bound in. Two volumes in marked brown cloth with gilt titles to spines. Volume 1 is a ninth edition but no edition indicated on the other 7 volumes. A very good copy in original red cloth, blind embossed with gilt title to spine. This reprint lacks the portfolio of 22 maps which accompanied its publication. The 1907 reprint of this detailed work on the war between Prussia and Austria.

London & Canada: The London Printing & Lithographing Company Limited, 1943. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Judy Varga. A first edition of one of the earliest books on the RAF phenomenon known as Gremlins. Well illustrated with colour plates showing the different types of these mythical creatures and the ensuing havoc they can cause. Thought to be the influence behind Roald Dahl's book on the same subject this copy is generally in Very Good condition but has lost the top right hand corner of the front wrap which is also a little soiled. Title page inscribed to a previous owner. The staples have rusted and caused the wraps to become detached. The book has been stitched to compensate for this problem. A first edition of one of the earliest books on the RAF phenomenon known as Gremlins.

A very good set half bound in marbelled boards with gilt titles on spines. Bound with corrigenda and containing 3 charts with 11 maps and plans, some with hand colouring. Containing the heraldic bookplate of John Frederick Pinney. Internally very good with occasional minor closed tears. Uncommon. A very good set of the seven volume history of France following the revolution of 1789.

London: The Prince of Wales Hospital Fund for London, 1897. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Oblong Format 8" X 6. This is an extensively illustrated souvenir of the procession held in celebration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Created by staff at the Graphic and Daily Graphic the majority of illustrations consist of groups of soldiers from around the Empire. Created to raise funds for the Prince of Wales Hospital Fund for London the book also contains a page in which supporters were encouraged to stick in special commemorative stamps in aid of the charity. This copy has two stamps tipped in -one for 1/- and another for 2/6d. Generally very good, a little loose within the binding and with the occasional light fingering to plates. Bound in blue cloth which is faded to spine and top board with the date printed in gilt to top board, A.E.G.

London: Edward Stanford, 1899. Soft cover. Good/No Jacket. 26 X 38. This is sheet 5, only, of this large map of the Transvaal and South African Republic published in 1899. Lithographed in Switzerland by Wurster, Randegger & Cie. and printed in colour on linen. Remains of paper attachment on rear of one segment. Map is extensively creased (see photos) and has 2 small holes (bookworm?) in the Roodepoort and Vlakfontein areas (see photos), without loss of text. Area covered by the map includes Pretoria and Johannesburg.

London: Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd., 1915. No Binding. Very Good/No Jacket. Box Size 7" X 4. Harry Payne. This is a jigsaw published in the Raphael Tuck "Zag-Zaw" series in which a postcard designed by the military artist Harry Payne has been cut up in about 35 pieces. Boxed in its original printed red card box with label to base and with original packing slip enclosed. The puzzle is complete and has been protected by modern clingfilm to keep all the pieces in place. Some water staining to corner of base of box and the box is worn.

Illustrated with photos of soldiers killed on the battlefields and containing many lists of casualties together with lists of promotions, etc. A particularly sad part is the requests from families for news of missing soldiers. Very good in blue cloth binding with gilt decorations showing minor wear and 4 bleach(?) stains to boards. T.E.G. Loosely inserted is a modern letter from Ken Cooper the author of "The Cardiff Pals". A two year run of this detailed regimental journal in the last two years of the First World War.

Illustrated with portraits, maps and other plates. Internally very good in red cloth which is faded to spine and top board and with marks to rear board. T.E.G. with minor chipping to top of a few preliminary leaves without affecting text. Previous owner's name on ffep.

This is a souvenir brochure produced for the No.2 Mechanical Equipment (Transportation) Units of the Royal Engineers who were instrumental in providing solutions to the transportation requirements of the Army following D Day in North West Europe. A detailed brochure illustrated with photographs of the damage caused by the RAF or retreating Germans together with drawings of the units at work with their heavy equipment. Very good in blue cloth with title to top board which has some trivial damp staining to its top. No publication details and date of publication assumed from th eline drawings some of which are dated 1948. Uncommon with no record found in online COPAC.

This is a booklet, prepared by the General Staff and published in July 1916, that describes, in some detail, the topography of the area of the Battle of the Somme that was fought between July and November 1916. A very good copy, holding well, in soiled and dusty printed wraps with rusted staples and folded map in pocket at the rear. Details in the booklet include: lists of villages; rivers & canals; obstacles; river and canal crossings; Railway bridges. The detailed map shows airfields, ammunition depots, ammunition factories etc. Uncommon with no copy traced in the online COPAC. An uncommon booklet, prepared by the General Staff, that describes, in some detail, the topography of the area of the Battle of the Somme.

An extensively illustrated album of the war productions of this Lincoln engineering company during the First World War. The company, before the war, produced agricultural machinery and oil engines, traction engines, etc. Its productions during the war consisted of munitions carriers, gun mountings, shells & bombs, tank engines, lethal gas apparutas and aeroplanes. Illustrated with drawings on all pages illustrating aspects of the military use of its productions. Several tipped in plates. A number of pages have small (1cm) closed tears to their lower margins, without loss, where a reader has turned the page close to the hinge. Minor wear to boards and a previous owners details (1952) to rear of title. An extensively illustrated album of the war productions of this Lincoln engineering company during the First World War.

A complete record of the actions that led to the award of the Victoria Cross, to its recipients, from its inception to 1904. Internally very good in decorative red cloth which is faded and badly sunned on the fore edges of its boards. The paper is toned on its edges and the lower for-edges of the last few pages is water stained but the text is untouched.

London: Arthur St. Baptisi Chapel Camberwell, 1916. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. This is a collection of newsletters created during the First World War, by the Arthur Street Baptist Church in Camberwell, to enable soldiers to communicate with each other via this medium. Numbered from 1 to 28 & number 30, with 29 issues, published between August 1916 and its last issue (number 30) published after January 1919. Each issue lists soldiers killed, wounded, Prisoners of war or with their current locations if none of the above. The issues also contain brief letters from soldiers to other soldiers who were members of the congregation. The final issue also has a number of photographs of soldiers who died during the combat. The issues consist of 4-6 pages and have been bound into contemporary green cloth covers by a previous owner, E. N. Mold, who is mentioned on a number of issues.
