A clever catalog for spring & summer of 1904 which summons the wisdom of iconic arbiter of men's fashion, Beau Brummell, by then long deceased. The company quickly points out that their purpose is promote modern attire rather than "exalt that which a century gone has made old-fashioned."

A nostalgic advertising piece which apparently precedes the late fifties advent of pantyhose.

Wraps toned, moderate edge wear, old horizontal folds, light foxing, faint signature in the top margin of the upper cover, otherwise very good.
Presumably a short-lived publication & likely the only number issued. Publisher Lacombe served, apparently, as editor & also contributed a sketch entitled "Fleurette." As noted on the verso of the upper wrap, each issue "will contain two plates." This example, with no evidence of removal, is without illustration & was probably distributed as a sample & prospectus.

Original stapled, pictorial stiff paper wraps, with vignette engraving of the Hood factories on the lower cover Not found in OCLC as of 5/16/2020 Lightly soiled, trace edge wear, otherwise Near Fine. Presents a wide range of rubber footwear primarily for men, occasionally for women, & mostly manufactured by Hood. A couple of other manufacturers are represented including Dixie, Old Colony, & Mohawk.

Publisher's gilt-lettered black silk with an applied illustration on the upper cover, in clam shell box. Text in Italian & English. Text block beginning to slip at the top of the spine, lightly soiled otherwise very good in like box with a hint of wear & soiling. New York: Theo. H. Gary Co., 1921. Folded hair net wrapped in tissue enclosed in the original pictorial envelope. The envelope measures 4.5 inches by 5.75 inches.
Envelope lighly toned, with slight edge wear, otherwise very good. The hair net enclosed is unused & seemingly as new.
The envelope depicts a comely young woman against a pinkish-yellow background touching her bobbed hair. Clearly using the hair net, the caption below reads "The Finishing Touch."

Modest edge wear, lightly stained, occasional handling marks, about Very Good. Established in 1879, the Liliputian Bazarre, "the first store in the world for babies," occupied space on 5th Avenue at 35th Street adjacent to such auspicious retailers as Gorham & Tiffany's. In addition to a full line of clothing, the catalogue includes baby carriages, cribs, & other furnishings.

Covers with short separation (1.5") at the top of the spine, lightly soiled, modest edge wear including a short tear at the rear cover, otherwise very good.

Presumably, these qualities are most easily achieved by wearing shoes equipped with O'Sullivan rubber heels as available from the P.L. Barney Shoe Company of Lynn, Massachusetts. Please note, this advertising piece does not include examples of specific footwear but does, oddly, provide a brief description of Chinese water torture which is likened to the experience of walking in ill-fitting shoes.

A clever promotional pamphlet told in verse & dedicated to the "juvenile patrons" of the Oak Hall Clothing House. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was apparently incensed at the firm's use of advertising poems patterned on his style.

Contemporary marbled paper over boards backed in gilt-lettered green morocco, original illustrated wraps bound in. Text in French Spine faded to brown, edges moderately rubbed, hinge cracked at first blank page, some internal soiling, toned throughout, good or betterThe plates depict coiffure & head dress from "Antiquite Romaine" through the Second French Empire.
