"When it comes to grace, the poetry of motion, woman, as she is more beautiful than man, so best acquires and exhibits in her walk the grace that is proof of health and beauty, and a demand for the homage of man."
Presumably, these qualities are most easily achieved by wearing shoes equipped with O'Sullivan rubber heels as available from the P.L. Barney Shoe Company of Lynn, Massachusetts. Please note, this advertising piece does not include examples of specific footwear but does, oddly, provide a brief description of Chinese water torture which is likened to the experience of walking in ill-fitting shoes.
