Interview with Kay Craig of Fig Books

When did you get started in bookselling?
1999!
What drew you to bookselling?
Our love of books. The ability to touch a book and sense information about where it's been, who's owned it and most importantly the author's story.
What are your specialties as a dealer?
Rare, antique and vintage books
What is your favorite part of being a bookseller?
Interacting with other lovers of books second to the treasure hunt for the next rare book.
Do you have an open storefront or have you in the past?
We have never had an open store front but may someday soon! Independent bookstores are fun to hang out in!
If so, do/did you have any bookstore pets?
We would have a special room with a bookstore pet or two. We do have a mini farm.
What do you personally like to read? Collect?
Autobiographies.
What's your favorite book you personally own? Would you sell it, if the price were right?
Kahil Gibran’s The Prophet , with the front and back pages used to record a life changing story about Sam Houston’s life time slave.
