Good+ paperback. Some minor shelf wear, scuffing and rubbing to edges. Price on back cover has been rubbed off. Some faint writing in pencil to foredge and first front endpaper. Paste down tag on inside back cover from California Academy of Sciences.

Vintage hardcover in good condition. Some wear and fading to covers, bumping on spine and corners. About a 4" hole to paper on upper left corner of back cover, and about a 2" hole to paper on lower left corner of back cover, but board intact. Slight water damage to back interior board & endpapers, warping some of the pages. Pictures are undamaged and binding still sound, if not a little crunchy. Former owner's endpaper to interior front cover.

Good condition, First Edition. Wear & rubbing to outer boards has rubbed away part of the gilt on the front cover & spine. Interior relatively unmarked except notes & previous owner's inscription on front & rear endpapers. A couple of chips & torn corners on endpapers. Front & rear hinges cracked, exposing mesh, but still attached.

Fair to Good condition, First American Edition. Staining & some water damage to front & back covers, some darkening to spine. Textblock solid and relatively unsoiled.

First edition, 1870 printing by Roberts Brothers in Boston. Binding is in poor condition, with a good portion of the spine missing on the lower half, exposing mesh and binding paper. Rest of spine attached by front hinge. Some water damage to rear board and water staining to interior textblock mostly along spine. Textblock itself still holding together despite exterior flaws, with minor cracking here and there, but no loose pages. Gilt debossing on front cover still bright and clear, slightly faded on spine. First part of a 2-volume set. Please inquire for more photos if needed. 341 pages, but includes 5 additional pages of advertisements in the back.

Approximately 6.75x9.25". Teal boards are scuffed and stained, bumping to corners & spine. Hinges are loose, boards are split at hinge, exposing mesh but are still attached. All signatures are intact to spine, but central photograph signature is slightly loose. No loose pages though. Gilt on front cover & spine still bright. Marbled edges of textblock are faded & sunstained, but still visible.
