Published in 1963, this may be a 1st edition, although not marked; Louise Vernon wrote many other books about historical and religious figures, making these people more accessible to children. This book is in its original format; many of her books are being reprinted in paperback form, since they are still well-loved.

An excellent facsimile edition of the famous work, there are no marks inside, but has some staining on the outside of the pages. Part of a private collective. Inside: "This facsimile Edition of the First Edition is Published for Members of the BOOK LEAGUE OF AMERICA, New York 1941."

This is an edition published in the first year of its publication (1945), but with no first edition marking. It is in good condition, with some age spots on the pages. There is a handwritten inscription in red pen on the inside front cover and in the back inside cover.
