Roosevelt, who in 1811, built and operated the "New Orleans," the earliest boat to travel from Pittsburgh to New Orleans in a fortnight. Latrobe himself an inventor, created the "Latrobe Stove", a coal-fired heater that could insert into an existing fireplace.
