"The Authors desire to give a few words of Introduction...the first opera, "The Smugglers' Lair" is a humble skit on Gilbert's admirable opera "The Pirates of Penzance".....the 2nd play a playful skit on on some of the adventures of Aeneas......of the two plays, the first is a fantasy and an attempt to portray the world in the grips of a machine.....the 2nd derived from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's.....Valley of Fear...."etc.

[1941] An original War Office official photograph, 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches, label to reverse "Mr Eden's Visit to Ehypt. The Secretary of State having a joke with men in the Desert" - "Not to be published before the evening papers on Monday, November 11th". The image meaning can easily be misconstrued. Could Sir Anthony be saying "Well what do you think of this Chaps?" The reply being "Oh please Sir, do put it away!". Small chip in lower margin.
