Pansy is the pen name for American author Isabella Macdonald Alden, who was born in 1841. She wrote her first book in 1865 at the age of 24, and went on to be a prolific author of novels intended to communicate wholesome Christian messages to young people.Pansy's books were incredibly popular, and by 1900 100,000 Pansy books were being sold a year. Rev. Francis E. Clark in 1895 wrote of the popularity of the series that, "Probably no writer of stories for young people has been so popular or had so wide an audience as Mrs G.R. Alden, whose pen-name, 'Pansy,' is known wherever English books are read."
This particular Pansy book, A Sevenfold Trouble, tells the story of an unhappy family to which harmony is brought when its members look to Christ for guidance.
