[Reno]: Nevada Bureau of Tourist Information, [ca. 1950]. Original watercolor art for Nevada tourism poster or ad. 14 x 11 inches, matted. Signed by Andrews on the lower left of the largest drawing. There are five vignettes and one large painting. The large watercolor is of a sailboat on Lake Meade [?] with rocky buttes in the background. Description:
New York : Veedee Manufacturing Company, 1904. First edition of the trade catalog marketing a vibrator which they unfortunately entitled "The Veedee." Small octavo. [16] pp. including 6 pages of photographic illustrations of the device itself and its various methods of application. Publisher' printed red wrappers. Lower tip of rear wrapper with a very small piece excised, else a very good copy. As often the case with promotional material this pamphlet starts off with many laudatory reviews: "What a gigantic thrill"; "I'd rather have a vibration treatment than eat": "It simply thrills the pain out of you." Then comes the litany of ills that this wonder device will do away with; deafness, influenza, asthma. kidney disease, rheumatism, gout, paralysis, sciatica, , etc. A fun chapter is called "A Pleasant Sensation." From the illustrations it appears to be a hand-held device you would crank to provide the "vibrations." OCLC locates zero copies.

Wynnewood, PA: The author, 1962. Typescript for the first edition. Quarto, 150 pp. (rectos only). Plain brown folder. Very good. There is a listing for this in the copyright publication list but it was never issued. Richard Wehterill was a fascinating individual. He start his professional life in management training for the big railroad companies back in the 20s. He soon came to a epiphany relating to human behavior that he called "Humanetics." "In the 1920s the late Richard W. Wetherill was given insight into a law of behavior existing in nature and impacting people’s daily affairs without their awareness of its existence. As a result of conforming with that natural law, Wetherill was able to pursue several successful careers in his nearly seventy adult years as a teacher, training executive, author and management consultant. Wetherill called the law of behavior, the law of absolute Right: Right action gets right results, whereas wrong action gets wrong results. The law clearly establishes that… Read More

[40] pp. All but 8 pp. are full page photographic illustrations of Mt. Tom environs and it's famed funicular railroad. Publisher's string-tied buff wrappers with raised gilt lettering and company device. Some minor aging but very good. Later editions list the publishers as the Holyoke Street Railway Company. "As a Holyoke businessman dissatisfied with the pace of the street railway's line expansion, Loomis decided to take matters into his own hands, purchasing the four-year old company outright in 1888. Electrification of the lines came in 1891 and, despite a faltering economy, the Holyoke Street Railway grew apace under his ambitious stewardship. In 1895, Loomis's railway began shuttling weekend passengers in search of respite and recreation to a 365-acre parcel on Holyoke's Mt. Tom that he had purchased and begun to groom some years before. Description:
Butte: W. F. Bartlett, Publisher, 1915. Third printing. Small octavo. 276 pp. Original hald calf over red cloth, spine with gilt ruled bands and gilt lettering. Some mild rubbing but a very good copy. Vigilantes of Montana by Thomas J. Dimsdale was published in book form 1865. It was first serialized in the Montana Post, of which Mr. Dimsdale was the editor-in-chief. It describes the exploits of vigilantes from Virginia City, Montana and its sister city Nevada, Montana from 1863 through 1865. It consists of true stories of courage and persistence on the part of the vigilantes as they pursued, arrested, tried, and punished road agents, murderers, and other dangerous criminals. This book has a busy publication history with both this edition and another in the same year being published in Helena. The title page is bound to a stub (as usual one presumes). This is an exact reprint of the second edition so they probably used sheets from the second and just added a new title page.
