At rear, "Memorandum for Each Day" (23 pp) section filled out in previous owner's brown ink hand, remarking on notable events such as "New Methodist Preacher" (9/17) and "President Election" (11/7), notes on the weather, or simply "Done Nothing" (10/18). Very few days left blank.

[i-vii] viii-xii, 92 pp. Blue cloth with gilt titling and decoration to spine, in plain blue paper dust jacket with black titling. DJ faintly yellowed from sunning at spine and creases, very lightly chipped at corners. Spine cloth gently rubbed at ends. Front endpapers offset with tape residue from apparent inlaid item, no longer present. Flyleaf inscribed in black ink "For Billy Buffum with the author's thanks and compliments. 25 January 1938." Text block very lightly toned but clean and sound. Some soiling and small (appx. 1/2 inch) split to rear hinge. Deckled fore edge. Illustrated throughout with facsimile plates and diagrams, from an exhibition of books on navigation science arranged by Wroth at the John Carter Brown Library during his time at Brown University.

Unpaginated [18 pp]. Spine staple rusted, with small rust marks to interior margin, otherwise very clean. Each recto a photo, illustration, or map, with text to verso advertising travel to Orange County, California, "Land of Eternal Spring.

Short Christian parable of the faithful widow Mary Wilson, who is visited by a traveler lost in the woods without a lantern.
