A new edition, with an introduction by Lord Willoughby De Broke. First published in 1843. With eight coloured plates from contemporary prints and paintings by Henry Alken, S. Howitt and others, and four monochrome full page plates from the originals by Tom Smith in the first edition. Tom Smith was a larger than life character and enthusiast of fox hunting, renowned as a fearless and inexhaustible rider This works tells the story of fox hunting, from the perspective of the fox. In the original red cloth binding. Externally in excellent condition with minor shelf wear only. The odd very light mark to the board. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with occasional spotting. Near Fine
