A double page spread with two sides (4 page article) with wood engravings and printed photographs of the rigorous training and exercise required of the students of both West Point and Annapolis, from the Harper's Weekly, a long running American newspaper well-known for its wood-cut illustrations. Photographs feature: P. W. Davison, F. W. Smith; E. W. Clark; D. M. Michie; D. E. Aultman from USMA, and, M.E. Trench, W.K. Johnson, W. Bagley, C.F. Macklin, A.W.Catlin from the USNA. B & w illustrations show 'Wrestling on Horseback', a sail drill, gymnasium at Fort Severn, fencing, approximately 11 x 15 3/4", very clean.
