London: John C. Nimmo, 1893. First edition. Complete in two octavo volumes (9.5" x 7.25"), xxxii & 469; viii, 443 & [2] pages, profusely illustrated including one folding chart of the Sistine Chapel. Publisher's one quarter green over lighter green cloth with the coat of arms of Buonarroti Simoni in gilt, red, blue & black on the upper covers, the spines lettered in gilt. Top edges gilt, ribbon markers sewn in.
Covers a bit soiled, bindings shaken, modest edge wear, corners rubbed through, text blocks cracking in a couple of places (still secure), previous owner's book plates at the front pastedown of both volumes, a good or better set.
A profusely illustrated & exhaustive biography of Michelangelo.
