About This Item

Half tan polished calf with debossed detailing and marbled boards; 4 slightly raised bands with gilt particulars to spine and morocco labels in red. All edges marbled. Each volume contains preface and introductory notes by Scott, originally published in the first edition of this set. Contains editorial notes throughout. Attractive and quite supple 24 volume complete set in very good condition. Sur blanc plates in black and white throughout. Titles include, but are not limited to: Guy Mannering, Fair Maid of Perth, Heart of Mid-Lothian, Woodstock, St. Ronan's Well, Black Dwarf, Old Mentality, Ivanhoe, Redgauntlet, Kenilworth, Abbot, and many others. Previous owner's name stamped in purple ink to first free page, otherwise no other previous owners' names or other markings. Signatures loose to Ivanhoe volume, but pages still attached. General wear to exterior (see image). Each 7 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches.
