Good/No Jacket. 15 Cm x 21.5 Cm. xvi+494; small 1948-dated sig.top front endpaper otherwise internally clean, tight & unmarked; blue cloth covers have been tightly laminated in irremoveable polythene type plastic, presumably a long time ago, although minimally worn bar spine rubbing this overlay has had a far from attractive effect being rippled in several places and making the spine look particularly unpleasant - though it seems to have been quite severely rubbed (esp.to ends) and faded already, with a 2.5 cm long white mark along top front joint. Includes papers by Hayek Samuelson and Schumpeter among many others, most dating from 1930s, some earlier and three from 1940s. Scarce in UK. Textblock shaken though not disastrously so. Inscription on fr. endpaper: 'Harriet Walters/ Presented/ for good attendance in the First Class of the Girls M.N.C. 1875 With her Teachers earnest prayer & hope that it will prove beneficial to her spiritual culture as well as a soruce of pleasant recreation. JB(?)', Covers rubbed with cloth wrinkling in places and some sl. soiling. Coloured printed cartouche on fr. is good, with only one v. sm. chip. Not the best copy in the world but this early edition, presumably 1st, does appear to be scarce. Good-VG for Age. 11 cms x 17.5 Cms. t.p.+(2, Preface recto, errata verso)+206+(2, pub.list); frotn endpaper excised, prev.owner's sm.gilt label top front pastedown, plus small in splash, od ink marks and scribbled pencilled numbers to rear endpaper, apparently by child, slight dust-marking to t.p. but otherwise clean, tight & no further marking; covers have numerous surface marks and rubbings, unlettered spine has chipped top, corners moderately bumped, nevertheless binding tight . VG/No Jacket. 13 Cm X 19 Cm. 92 pp., internally clean, tight & unmarked but browned strips along inner edges of outer sides of endpapers, presumably set off from now absent jacket wraparounds, brown spots to fore-edge of textblock; covers clean and unworn, v sl.discolouring to centre of boards but this not serious. Draws on Klein, Freud, William Brown and ideas of suggestion and autosuggestion. A sane work for the popular market. Uncommon.

Undated but an advert at end celebrates 30 years of Bonthron & Co, 1868-1899 (sic) so cannot be much after 1900 at the latest. Do try the larded sweetbreads.

Green cloth with gilt and black lettering to fr., gilt only to sp., remarkably clean, bright and unworn for age except fo a narrow dark broken mark across upper back. 235 pp.; verso fr. end-paper has penciled date sig. of Derek Gibson (an eminent pioneering cardiologist and bibliophile, 1935-2021), both sides of fr. and verso back end-papers very tanned, lower central t.p. has a red pear-shaped stamp of some kind, unlettered but an abstratc design fo some sort, possibly oriental, otherwise clean, bright and unworn. Fr. over and t.p. have 'By the ASuthor of Manners & Duties of Good Society'. Includes chapters on conversation at dinner parties and in the ball-room. 13 cm x 19 cm

This committee appears to have issued two further sets of bulletins down to 1934 but I can find nothing on the web about it or whether it was a League of Nations operation. The Abbe de Choisy (1644-1724) was a promiscuous cross-dresser, raised wearing girl's clothes, but not homosexual, the Marquise-Marquis de Banneville was similarly raised but was homosexual, authorship of his account (1st pub. 1695) is uncertain though Choisy almost certainly had a hand in it. 14 cm x 22 cm

Four of the five Essays/Tracts have t.p.'s giving their issue runs ranging from 'tenth' to 'twenty-first' thousand. Topics are primarily religious or morally didactic, the first 'Culture and Discipline of the Mind' (an 1836 Rectorial Address) is arguably more psychological. A very nice copy.

Sp.labels & gilt panel rulings good. A very sound copy of this important work, which seems to be rarely found in VG condition.
