Each book is bound in a different shade and grain of red leather with gilt lettering, the edition being reserved only for contributors in a very small limitation. All are signed by authors, artists, introducers where applicable, and the founder of the press John Pelan, from whose shelves these volumes come. Several unique inscriptions to Pelan, with a couple letters of correspondence laid in. Silver Salamander was an important small press in the Northwest horror scene of the 90's, focusing on new works from contemporary writers. New goatskin and marbled boards by the Russian-American artisan binder Sasha Mosalov....The musée des monuments françois was created during the revolution by Doyen as a warehouse to the sculptures and tombs in danger of being destroyed by the French revolutionaries. In 1791 Doyen left Paris for Russia and the warehouse was put in charge of his assistant Alexandre Lenoir. The collection, housed in the Abbey of the Petits-Augustin, was lated transformed by Lenoir to a Museum of French art and history. Lenoir organized the museum by each room being devoted to a century....After the return of the Bourbon family period the sculpture and tombs were returned to their original location. A handsome set of the Reader's Union edition, which was the first Book Club edition of Tolkien's epic fantasy, in much better condition than usually found.

Wood engraved title page and dedication in each volume. 104 hand-colored aquatint engravings by Rowlandson and Pugin [Pugin engraved the architectural details, Rowlandson the figures] in mixed states with accompanying accompanying text, plus half titles and dedication leaves. This is Williams' first book and is quite rare. It is a sequence of sonnets. We purchased this book in a lot of Williams books at auction. Two of the books had Colin Hardie's name in them and most of them at a 2 or 3 letter code inside the back cover. (The letters in the back are DXL.)  Therefore we think this was likely Colin Hardie's copy, though his name is not in it. Colin Hardie was an Inkling. There were approximately sixteen people at C. S. A bright copy of this collector's edition of two narrative Norse mythology poems likely written around 1930 by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Moderate rubbing and soiling to spine with a couple of small ink stains; light bruising to corners and extremities; moderate sun-fading to spine and boards slightly cocked. Cracking to the cloth along the outer edges of the spine, with light fraying to spine ends. Two preliminary pages with closed tears near spine causing slight looseness. Light foxing and discoloration to pages and edges throughout. Library stamps and markings to endpapers, prelims, colophon, top of first page of text, and spine. Two fragments of original dust jacket pasted into blank prelims. Good.

It started with Lewis giving four series of talks on BBC during World War II. These series were published as three small books but eventually they were combined into this one classic. <BR><BR>Blue cloth boards with silver text on the spine. 177 pp. The dust wrapper is red with white text. <BR><BR> Recently we have been working on the two different states of the dust wrapper for the first edition of Mere Christianity. What we believe to be the first state has no reviews on the flaps of the wrapper and a blank back flap. What we believe to be the second state has reviews on the front flap that continue on to the back flap.
